Finally the obsession of writing blogs among engineering students engulfed me as well. But while others have some strong motives behind writing a blog such as 'bringing about a revolution'(read with air quotes), I on the other hand, don't have such higher purposes. So anybody looking for technical magnificence or artistic brilliance shall refrain from this blog. Such people may comment below and I shall happily direct you to the blogs of more apt people.
So for the remaining people( if left any) I would like to start by explaining why I chose such an absurd name for a blog. I would like to tackle the first two words together : Mallus and Marwadis. Well its simple, I am a Keralite by birth and a Rajasthani by upbringing. You can visualize me as a Mundu clad guy eating Daal, Bati and Choorma. Till I was in Rajasthan(for the whole 19 years), I was called a Mallu, not only me but every other Keralite kid whom I knew. However, when I came to Kerala to pursue my B.Tech, I was given a new nick name : Marwadi. So in a way I was never able to mingle with either group completely. It never bothered me much though, but the way I was treated by each group made me see them in a different light. I don't say that any of them were harsh on me, in fact the majority of people I met from both groups were extremely friendly and many are now like family to me, but this experience helped me pick up those minute details that otherwise I wouldn't had noticed had I blended with each group completely. It was very interesting to see the common myths each group had about the other, and so I would like to clarify some things here:

#For my Rajasthani friends:-
  1. No, there is not a single state in southern India called Madras and not every south Indian is a 'madrasi'. In fact southern India comprises of three states namely Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
  2. Yes, the majority of us wear lungi, but we are not the only ones and neither have we invented it. If you care to observe almost all men from various states prefer wearing lungi such as Punjab, Bihar and West Bengal. I have even seen some Rajasthani men wearing lungi so stop making lungi jokes on us.
  3. Yes, a lot of us drink and we drink hard. We can be like the storage houses of liquor once a major occasion nears. But unlike the rumors, most of us know how to keep it inside.
  4. Yes, many of us including a lot of Hindus devour on cow meat, but neither is it disgusting nor is it an attack on any religion. Our religions have never restricted us on eating habits.
  5. Finally, not all of us have doctorates in English. So every idiot who told me in school - "Tu toh south indian hai, teri toh english achchi hogi hi" - should eat dirt.
# For my Keralite friends :-
  1. No, North India doesn't have a single state called Uttar Pradesh. There are around 7 states that comprise North India one of them being Rajasthan.
  2. No, not all of us are hot headed, but if we get pissed then only god can save you.
  3. No, our food is not unhealthy and bland because we don't use coconut oil. If you ask me, there is nothing better than North Indian food (Sorry my mallu friends).
  4. Not every one of us is intellectually inferior to every other Keralite. We have many brilliant minds.
  5. Finally, not all of us have doctorates in English. So every idiot who told me in college - "Ni UPinalle, veruthe alla ninde english super aayathu." - should eat dirt.

Well I should make clear that this is not compulsory for every Keralite or Rajasthani but for the many people I have met and who keep this mentality.
So you might ask what do I consider myself : a mallu or a marwadi. I would say both. I am bicultural and believe me its much fun being that way. Being brought up like this had its disadvantages but it also had its benefits like If I am walking with a mallu friend in Rajasthan we can check out girls and discuss it in Malayalam and no one would understand what the heck we are saying. To relieve anger, I can abuse any of my college friends with the biggest curses in Rajasthani and they won't get offended. They might even smile in response. So, problem solved and no harm done. Its these small perks that makes this experience worthwhile.

We move on to video games now. Nothing much to say, I am just crazy about them. On the list of five things I can't live without, Video Games would come at no.4 above 'sleep'. I am passionate about them so you would have to love them as well as they will be an integral part of this blog.

So, what could you expect from the posts?? Well thats where this blog differs, You don't expect anything. Its not a dedicated blog so I may post anything: maybe my life experiences,my opinions, a video game or movie review, my poetry (yeah I write, stop giggling). We may have discussions here or share stuff/information beneficial for everyone.
I don't know if anyone's going to follow my blog, but for those who do I just have one thing to say :Its gonna be fun.

  1. On my Jijaji's suggestion I want to add one more point the part "for my rajasthani friends" : My rajasthani friends we malayali's are not all ugly, neither do all of us look like coal. My own brother in law is a 6 feet 1 inch hunk. You can check it out from his facebook page, his facebook id is 'Vinay Nair', he is there in my friendlist as well. As for being dark, I don't even think its something bad cause i tell you men are supposed to be dark and if you still want to see a fair mallu, check out varun mohan from my friendlist. Another thing some of my rajasthani friends had told me was that the keralite girls are not very beautiful and are very dark. To clarify this, again I don't think dark women look unattractive, and as far as keralite girls are considered, brothers you haven't seen beauty completely yet. Believe me.

  3. LOL... i think i'm the one who gave you the name 'marwadi'. For all those who think south indian women are not beautiful, Hema Malini is from Tamil Nadu, Aishwarya Rai is from Karnataka, Asin, Vidya Balan and Parvathy Omanakuttan are from Kerala. Now go eat dirt... :D
